With the Olympics taking place in Rio De Janeiro, we, at Simply Good Times, have put together some fun and competitive events themed around the Olympic Games ideal for groups looking to celebrate this special occasion.
Whether it be a Team Building Day, a Birthday or a family event, these events can be run coinciding with the games and each person or team can represent a specific country and battle it out to win victory with a podium finish! See below for our Olympic-Style Events:
Olympic Themed Treasure Hunts
Incredibly popular during the London 2012 Olympics, and continuing to offer a fun and interactive day out since then, our Olympic Themed Treasure Hunts combine team strategy, Sports Trivia, creative video & photography challenges and a City location of your choice. Your group will be tasked with collecting as many points, landmarks, challenges and new locations as possible during your timeframe, and when the time’s up, meet back at your agreed check-point where groups will be presented with Gold, Silver, Bronze and runners-up positions. Olympic Multi-Activity Day
Looking for something a little more creative, funny and highly competitive? Our Olympic Games Events are run as a part of a Team Building day for friends, families or corporate companies and involve everyone getting stuck in and taking part to win the Olympics. The group is divided into teams of roughly 8 competitors where they will each be tasked with designing their own flag, choosing a team name and composing a national anthem. Activities may include Clay Shooting, Human Table Football, Inflatable Volleyball, Archery and a mini decathlon. Who will prove to be a great all-rounder, and who has a special skill waiting to be unearthed?
Zorb Football Tournament
Arrive at your venue to get a run-down of the safety briefing and to get fitted into your Inflatable Zorb outfits to compete in several football tournaments, including Bulldog, 5-a-side and Football Sumo lasting up to 20 minutes a game (depending on size of group). Groups of 20 people last roughly 1hr 30 mins, while times may vary on other group sizes. Then after all that fun, you will be photographed in your teams for you to download after the event. The overall winner(s) of the day will also be rewarded with a bottle of Bubbly on completion of the matches.
Human Table Football
Played in a 50ft by 20ft inflatable arena strap, yourself to the bar so the only movement you can make is sideways and prepare yourself for one of the funniest games you will ever play. Don't worry if you've never played football before as no previous experience is necessary. The game is run in a fun format and the referee can dish out the red cards for anything from over exertion, showing off or even scoring too many goals! Fun and madness is definitely the order of the day!
Archery
Archery is a challenging and engaging precision sport which requires a steady hand, calm nerves, and great aim! Archery is an engaging event as a standalone experience, and can be teamed with one of our other country pursuits for a top Multi-Activity Day. Once familiarised with the equipment, guests are given the opportunity to 'get their eye in' with some simple close target practice. As Archers skills improve the targets are moved further and further away, and guests are often amazed that before long they are hitting targets accurately and regularly from distance. Once Archers are confident with their new found abilities it's on to a friendly competition between guests with prizes for top shots, and forfeits!
Yacht Match Racing
Go out as a total beginner and return as part of the crew having had a real taste of what yachting is all about. After a short briefing with the skipper motor out of the Marina and get busy hoisting the sails. With a course laid out and a 5-minute count down, you will need to be crossing the start line with plenty of speed just as the start gun goes. The start is crucial but all is not lost if you are lagging behind, if your crew work well as a team the first leg up to the windward mark gives plenty of opportunity to catch up. Several races will be completed providing a great learning experience and with team work essential, this makes for a fun and exhilarating extreme sailing match race. Each boat can be given a particular country to support and flags will be encouraged! Your session includes hot drinks on board with bottles of bubbly at the end to the winners.
Dodgeball
Made famous by the cheeky and comical American Hit Film, Dodgeball has increased in popularity and is now petitioning to become an Olympic Sport! Start practicing now, and we’ll perhaps see you in 2020! Upon arrival at the venue, groups will receive a quick briefing on the games’ rule, how to effective dodge the balls and throw like a pro! You’ll then be split into two or three groups to take part in a quick tournament to get acquainted with the rules and a practise with the attack and defense moves. After the heart is pumping and the muscles are stretched, it’s onto play various games such as Bulldog, Tag, Last Man/Woman Standing and an original game of Dodgeball. Whether this is your first time playing this sport, or you want to reminisce your school play times, Dodgeball is suited for all experiences and can be played as soft or as hard as you like!
Mountain Bike Olympic Treasure Hunt
The Mountain Bike Olympic Treasure Hunt is a great way to explore the beautiful English countryside as part of an Olympic-Inspired day out. We have various routes available and we’ll provide a full days’ bike hire and a treasure hunt pack. This is un-guided, so you can set your own pace for the day, to do as much or as little as you choose to do. Support is on hand for emergencies and we provide a top quality mountain bike, a helmet and also a bag which contains any essentials which may be needed such as a puncture repair kit and a pump, plus the Mountain Bike Treasure Hunt pack/route.
It's a Knockout
Expect giant costumes, bouncy castles, inflatable obstacle courses, plus plenty of foam and gallons of water. You could find yourself building a giant inflatable burger, fighting your way through a giant foam-filled washing machine, or climbing a slippery summit! Anyone can take part, regardless of age or fitness levels. Join forces with friends, family or colleagues to complete the wacky and wonderful challenges.
Target Rifles
Target Shooting is easy to pick-up yet difficult to master, providing a challenging and engaging event requiring a steady hand, calm nerves, and great aim! Target Shooting with Rifles is taught by friendly, qualified instructors in stunning countryside venues across the UK. Full instruction and detailed tuition on shooting means point of aim and concentration will be given. Confident with their new found abilities, guests have the option to compete in a friendly competition with prizes for top shots, and forfeits!
Clay Pigeon Shooting
With top quality instruction and a variety of gun calibres, we guarantee that you'll be hitting the Clays in no time. After having a few practice rounds guests enjoy a competition amongst friends or colleagues, themed around the Olympic Style Competition. Packages from 25 to 100 shots are available in the morning or afternoon. Pair clay shooting with some other top outdoor adventure activities for a full-on 'Olympic' country pursuits day.

The hugely-fun It's a Knockout competition is based over six mad games involving tricky obstacles, hilarious costumes, epic inflatables, plus plenty of water and foam for good measure! Teams compete on games against other groups with prizes on offer. Each individual game takes around twenty minutes. Games include Ski Funday, Penguin Pursuits, Rubber Band Race, The Water Works and Rapid Run amongst others with games lasting around 2.5hrs - 3hrs. There a PA system with commentary & music so teams really feel the Knockout atmosphere and for each Knockout event there are prizes & bubbly for the winners.
Prices start at £45pp with It's a Knockout being held in many areas across the UK.
A strategic team-building favourite. Choose from either Paintball, Airsoft or a combination of Combat and Shooting Games for an energy-fueled half or full day out with your friends. Set in several acres of woodland, our combat arenas are filled with natural bumps, trees and shrubbery to hide yourself from the opposing team's aim. As if this wasn't enough, we also have some man-made forts, tunnels, waterholes and smoke machines to create even more suspense.

As much as getting on one knee is an incredibly important part of the process, and planning the wedding can be one of the most stressful tasks imagined, you can't forget about celebrating your last night of freedom! Traditionally, a Stag or Hen Party would take place the day or evening before your wedding day, but in the 21st Century we find these events getting booked for around a month prior to the big day - leaving plenty of time to work off those hangovers.
