Dinghies provide a perfect introduction to sailing, without the lengthy learning process of yachts or windsurfing, guests can be going solo in a dinghy within an hour, and the only fitness required is an ability to swim.
What happens on the day?
After a safety briefing on dry land, you are given your sailing gear and lifejacket. Your instructor will introduce you to the basics of sailing, from hoisting the sails to helming, and may even teach you some sailing jargon. Dinghy sailing is for all ages, shapes and sizes, and can be single-handers for those who like their independence, or as part of a two-man team in a slightly larger boat. Dinghy sailing events typically take the format of a half hour introduction and kitting up, one hour practice on calm waters, and then a race to round the experience off! Bespoke formats are available. Once everyone is back on dry land, logbooks can be signed off for those who want to take their Dinghy Sailing further.
